Survey on decentralized congestion control methods for vehicular communication

Vehicular communications have grown in interest over the years and are nowadays recognized as a pillar for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs) order to ensure an efficient management of road traffic achieve reduction number accidents. To support safety applications, both ETSI ITS-G5 IEEE 1609 standard families require each vehicle deliver periodic awareness messages throughout neighborhood. As vehicles density grows, scenario dynamics may high message exchange that can easily lead radio channel congestion issue then degradation on critical services. has defined Decentralized Congestion Control (DCC) mechanism mitigate acting transmission parameters (i.e., rate, transmit power data-rate) with performances vary according specific algorithm. In this paper, review DCC standardization activities is proposed well analysis existing methods algorithms mitigation. Also, some applied machine learning techniques addressed.
